You'll want to get a US bank account as soon as possible. Many banks do not require you to have a Social Security Number before opening an account.
We have relationships with several banks that make this easier for you. Ask your manager for guidance, they will know which bank is best for your situation.
If you are student, then ask the person at the bank if they have a student account that has no bank fees. This might be the best account for you.
DO NOT TELL THE BANKER YOU PLAN TO CLOSE THE ACCOUNT SOON. Most banks want you to keep the account open for at least a year. Telling them you plan to close the account may prevent you from getting an account or from getting the best account for you. We recommend you leave your bank account open for at least a year. Maintaining your American bank account will be the easiest way to get your last paycheck, get your housing deposit refunded, get any possible tax refund in February or March of the following year, have access to money for traveling in the US after your work time, and you'll have an account if you return next year.
Make sure to get a full bank account that allows you to transfer money to your home country account using Zelle, Paypal or some other service you like. Also, you will need a full bank account to pay your rent through DoorLoop. Paying things or transferring money using a card may cost you more in fees than using a bank account and routing number.
Avoid getting a prepaid debit card or if you are using Regions Bank, DO NOT get a Regions NOW card. These types of accounts will not work for paying your rent or transferring money.
After you get your bank account it is vital that you input your bank account information in two places. First - input the bank information in your "Fourth" account so you can be paid Second - input your bank information in your "DoorLoop" account so you can pay your rent by echeck Team Members working in North Carolina will not have a "Fourth" account. You will need to submit your bank account information on the form below. If you do not do this by Tuesday before payday then your paycheck will be delayed until the next payday.
What is a routing and account number?
A routing number will always be 9 digits long. This number tells other banks which bank you are using. If your friends have a bank account where you have one, then the routing number is usually the same for both of you. The account number can be any number of digits long and is unique to you. The 16 digit number on the front of a debit card is not a bank account number. You cannot use the 16 digit debit card number for receiving your paycheck or for paying your rent through DoorLoop.
If you do not enter your bank account and routing number into "Fourth" by Tuesday before pay day then we will mail your paycheck to the address you have in "Fourth". This will delay you receiving your paycheck by at least 10 days and in some cases the paycheck will not make it to you, and it will cost you $50 to get it corrected.
