A little more information about housing
American housing is some of the most expensive in the world. However, as one of our team members we will subsidize the cost of your housing which includes, electricity, heat, air conditioning, water and internet access. In addition to paying weekly rent, you are expected to clean and maintain the house according to posted cleaning schedules.
Housing in America varies across the nation. In some areas, apartment buildings are common, while areas close to some beaches might be a house built on stilts and then in some areas housing is in historical houses that have been subdivided to make smaller apartments.
In all Fudgery homes you can expect the following...
**Team Members working at the Pier 39 location in San Francisco will not live in Fudgery provided housing. You are responsible for securing your own housing. You will need to use the "Report Your Housing" link above to report your housing arrangements to us. You will not pay a housing deposit to us.

For some locations, you will report directly to your housing while in other locations you might report to a different house or to a store to meet your manager. Be sure to find the exact instructions for your housing and do not assume you will report directly to the address in Door Loop. Many team members have experienced delays and incurred extra costs by not confirming the arrival instructions for their house.
If the instructions for your housing are to go straight to the house, then early in the week that you travel, you will receive an email with the code for the door lock. Be sure to look for this email and if you can't find it during the week you travel then please email us.

What if something goes wrong or changes after I secure my housing?
We understand that plans are made months in advance with many parties involved and lots of moving pieces. Sometimes, unforeseen circumstances happen that are out of control for you, us, the agencies working with us, the governments, and other parties involved. If an unforeseen situation arises then we will work to resolve the situation with the best interest of all parties involved. This may involve moving you to a different work and/or housing location, changing travel dates, withdrawing the job offer, or anything that best fits the situation. If the situation warrants it, then your housing deposit will be refunded. We believe that timely and clear communication of any unforeseen circumstance is the best step to a successful resolution for all parties. Be sure to consistently check your emails because we will email you if any changes need to be made.
Details about leaving us, final rent payment, and security deposit refund
Frequently, international team members make plans for their return trip before they ever leave home. We advise you to think carefully about how you want to spend your time in America after you finish your contract with us. We expect you to be available to work up to and on the original DS end date assigned to you by the US government. If you want to do some traveling while in America, then leave yourself time after your original DS end date and before your trip home. America is HUGE and getting to different places takes extra planning which includes allowing for this time. We want everyone to enjoy their time in America and with us, but our American team members are also depending on you to honor your committed time working with us.
All Fudgery housing requires a $500 security deposit to secure your spot. Don't worry $425 of this deposit is refundable when you move out. As soon as you make your plans to depart from us, you must complete the International Team Member Exit Timeline, we need this a minimum of 14 days before you move out. If you have completed this form timely, we will adjust the final bill to reflect only the days you will be in our housing. You must pay this revised bill on the same schedule as all rent bills and late fees will apply to this rent bill if paid late. Your DoorLoop account must have a zero balance before we can end your lease, refund your housing deposit or issue your final paycheck.
Please review your housing agreement for the financial penalties if you plan to leave before your original DS end date.

Within 2 days of your moving out, a Fudgery representative will inspect the property for cleanliness and potential damages. Everyone will pay a $75 departure cleaning fee for deep cleaning of the house at the end of the season. This cleaning is not normal weekly cleaning but is for deep cleaning which may include cleaning carpets, cabinets, walls, trim, furniture, etc.
Within 10 days after the housing evaluation is completed and submitted by the appointed reviewer, we will issue a refund from DoorLoop for the applicable refund amount (usually $425). You will receive an email from DoorLoop where you can choose to print a paper check for deposit into your bank account or where you can choose to receive the refund via ACH. The easiest way to do this, is to choose direct deposit and then manual verification, where you will enter your account and routing number to receive your funds. Choosing the instant verification option requires an American phone number for verification. Entering a foreign phone number or other number will cause problems for you receiving your refund.
If there are any issues with the housing evaluation, unpaid fees/fines, or an adjustment from the planned leave date to the actual leave date, the amounts will be withheld from your deposit refund and then your final paycheck. All of these will be reflected in your DoorLoop account or on your paystub.

Any emails sent that ask questions (including rent calculations or rent charges) which are addressed on this website or on the forms will receive a delayed response. We receive a large volume of questions and we must prioritize the ones that cannot be handled by your review of this website.
